Classic Porsche For Sale
The Porsche 356B Carrera 2 was an improvement from the previous 1,600cc Carrera offered by Porsche as they had now increased the capacity of the engine to 1,996cc. This new race derived four cylinder, 2.0L engine was named the 587/1 produced 130bhp with it’s four overhead cams.
The car offered here is chassis 120376 and was manufacturer by Porsche AG in Germany in May 1962 and delivered to Amag of Switzerland. Chassis 120376 was supplied with the following options: Antenna, electric sunroof, larger brakes, aluminium rims, coco mats, 2 fog lamps, 2 loud speakers. The factory kardex shows the car was delivered to H. Stanek of Switzerland and was serviced by Amag in it’s early years.
The car is presented in a beautiful restored condition in the desirable combination of Bali Blue over Blue leatherette and square weaved carpet.
Recently Historika have undertaken service work of the car and most recently re-commissioned the brakes and running gear to ensure the car is driving exactly as it should be.
Much of the early history of the car has been lost but we do know that back in the early 2000s the car was part of Wilfried Dauphin's collection, housed in a museum near Nuremburg. Mr Dauphin owns a wine estate, Allée Bleue, near Franschhoek and has bought many classics in SA, and this Carrera was one of those cars.
After importing the car to South Africa Mr Dauphin sold the car and it has since moved between and number of South African collections then in 2019 the currect owner imported the car into the UK with all taxes paid.
Overall this Carrera 2 is presented in excellent condition and drives exactly as a Carrera 2 with the 587/1 engine should do and is ready for the next custodian to enjoy on the road or on touring events
